Swag Out

To kick start the beginning of S.W.A.G’s new beauty and fashion segments that will be coming to you every Tuesday and Friday, the first article is dedicated to the preparations towards the one day of the week that most of us live for- Saturday night!  Whether it’s getting ready for a date, big night out with friends or an event, we all want to look our best.  But how can we look our best when we don’t feel our best?  One way to help with the confidence is to tackle everything we have to do throughout the day with clear skin!  I know that this time of year is very hectic for a lot of students so why not treat yourself and your skin to an at home exfoliator!

This quick and easy recipe will help give your skin that extra attention that it needs!

You will need 3 ingredients that most of us can find in the kitchen!

  • Oatmeal
  • Water
  • Honey

Fun Facts:
Cooked oatmeal helps to get rid of any redness on the skin as it reduces itching by smoothing your skin with its anti-inflammatory properties.  Oatmeal is good on its own for softening the skin as it eliminates dryness by acting as a natural exfoliator.  Mixing it with honey gives it that extra boost!  Honey if full of antioxidants that help to moisturize  and clear up the appearance of your skin.

Let’s get started!

Use 1 cup oats to 1 cup water and put in the microwave for roughly 3-5 minutes.  Stir the mixture and heat up accordingly if the final result is too gooey and watered down.  Once you are happy with it, add a spoon full of honey and mix.  When the oatmeal is at room temperature, you know it’s ready!  Then gently rub the mixture on your face for 1-2 minutes.  Once your skin feels exfoliated and cleansed, wash off with lukewarm water.  Pat to dry and you're good to go.

Come back Friday for some tips and advice on how to emphasize our newly rejuvenated skin with a step by step guide on how to get flawless and photo ready foundation for a weekend out!
