Swag Out!

I have been fortunate enough to have never experienced the extreme end of the spectrum in terms of acne or bad skin.  But I do have combination skin, which means that it is hard to find the right type of products to use.

Here’s a little bit of a run down on my skin to help you figure out if these products are right for you.

From my teen years, I do have a few acne scars that can easily be covered up with foundation and are not even that noticeable on there own.   But in the summer time when I don’t like to cake on the make-up, I do get a little self conscious of them.  Therefore I need a good cleanser that can exfoliate the dead skin cells to help brighten the overall look of my face.

When I was at Visage getting my eyebrows done, the woman who was doing them, started to examine my skin.  She then went on to talk about the products she uses since we have the same skin type- combination dry and oily.  Now I was a little skeptical because the products she said she uses and started to use on me were from a line by the Visage Salon.  (Surprise, surprise).  But from the moment she started using the Papaya Mousse Cleanser all my doubts faded away.  This was no ordinary cleanser and believe me, I should know because I’ve tried them all!  Long story short, I instantly fell in love.

She then went to use the Papaya Toning Complex, which unlike most toners, did not leave my skin feeling tight.  The reason why many toners leave that feeling is because the alcohol properties dehydrate your skin.  However this toner is alcohol free and with its cucumber and geranium extracts it moisturizes the skin.  It also contains extracts of sage which is known for having anti-inflammatory and healing properties, making this ideal for those with sensitive skin.

After she let the toner air dry for a minute or two she moisturized my skin with their Pore Minimizing Moisturizer.  I have used many pore minimizing products and I have mixed feelings about the idea of them.  Maybe I just haven’t found the right one yet but I find that not many actually decrease the size of your pores.  Regardless, I enjoyed the smell of the moisturizer and the feel.  Basically if it didn’t do what it said (minimize my pores) I would still be happy with this product because of the texture of the moisturizer.  I’m also a big sucker for scents.

After she showed me all the products and explained the benefits of them to me, I wasn’t exactly sold on them even though I really enjoyed it.  I left with my new eyebrows and continued on with my day as usual.  That night when I used my face wash (which I am a big fan and have used for years) I was a little disappointed.  It’s odd to say but the whole process wasn’t as fun or as enjoyable as it had been using the Visage papaya products.  After contemplating the purchase for a couple weeks I finally caved and got it.

I have been using these product for over a month and I have seen all the results that I was promised.  It has always been hard for my skin because with combination skin, some areas are dry and need moisture whereas some are oily and need to be matted.  But these products do exactly what they promise to do and do it very well.  (My pores are actually smaller now!)  If you have combination skin like me then this set is perfect for you.  It moisturizes the right parts of your skin without adding excess moisture and shine to the oily parts.  I don’t think my skin has ever been so well taken care of.

The only issue I have with these products is with the Papaya Mousse Cleanser.  The cleanser has a pump on it which turns the product into a foam that lathers really well but I find that with the pump it uses more of the product and it goes by quickly.  In terms of the product itself there is no issue, it just makes me sad to see each pump use so much, as I want it to last forever.
