Swag Out!
There are a lot of make-up brands out there and searching for that one holy grail foundation can be difficult and sometimes overwhelming when it comes to finding the right one for you in terms of skin type and colour matching. For this “How to Guide” I won’t be suggesting any specific brands as everyone has different types of skin (oily, dry or combination) and not everything that works for one person will work for another. Also- it isn’t always about the brand of make-up that you use but rather how you go about using it and as I’ve said in my previous post, it’s all about preparation. But look out for upcoming blog posts on various foundations, BB Creams, and more!
Step One: Exfoliate, exfoliate and exfoliate.
Applying liquid foundation and especially powder foundation, to flakey skin will cause it to look really cakey and packed on. And the more foundation you use to cover it up, will just emphasize it even more and become extremely noticeable to anyone looking at your face. To avoid this, exfoliate once a week to help make-up apply smoothly and evenly your face.
Step Two: Primer
Primer helps to get inbetween all the lines and pours we have on our face so that when you apply your foundation, you’re applying it to an even surface, ultimately reducing the cakey, packed on look. It will also help to keep your make-up lasting throughout the day.
If you don’t have a primer at hand then to help for that extra bit of coverage, taking a BB Cream and doubling it up as the first layer before your foundation will really help.
Step Three: Foundation
Apply your foundation in soft gentle strokes that go the same way the little hairs on your face fall . Now buff a a loose powder in small circular motions to help blend in the color. Using a powder will help to not only set your foundation for the rest of the day but help to reduce shine for those of you with oily skin.
Once you are content with the look and coverage of your foundation it’s time to move on to bronzer and a touch of blush for the finished look.
-With a big fluffy brush dab lightly into your bronzer, tap off any excess powder and start at your temple and do what is called the 3E Method.
Starting at your temple, mimic the shape of a large three on your face, going from your temple to the hallows of your cheek, finishing on the jawline.
-Grab your favorite blush, smile to find the apples of your cheeks and dab a bit.
Then for a more natural look, blend the blush out into the bronzer located on you cheek bones.
