Lucky (Interview)

"I'm always up thinking 'bout my past, and how can I do more for my community.."

Meet Lucky. A MajorLeague Brand artist, hailing from Duquesne, PA. Above, we have his latest single, "My Community", the intro to his upcoming project Mixed Decisions. Recently, I had the chance to talk with him about a few things, and you can check that out below:



How did you get into rapping?
"It was something I always wanted to do, but I never pursued it."


Where did the name, Lucky, come from?
"It came from my family members, and playing sports."


In your song, "My Community", you ask what you can do for your community, showing great for the area. What does Duquesne mean to you?
"Duquesne means everything to me because it's not a place where just anyone can't make it. You have to work hard, and there are no handouts."


Your sound, from what I've heard, has a more conscious sound. It's very family centric. How does your family and crew influence what you do as an artist?
"The situations that we come from, such as living in poverty. Growing up in an environment that is really not good for kids, makes me want to do better for the people I truly care about. I want to be able to provide for my loved ones and make them feel comfortable with their way of living."



Who would you like to most work with in the music industry, past or present?
"Of course there are a lot of different artists that I would like to work with, both local and famous. As for famous, I really want to work with Wiz Khalifa because he's different. He's a real person, and he influences me in so many different ways. Also, because he's still with the same crew that he grew up with."


What's the next move fans can expect from you?
"I'm going to try and do more shows, and more networking (Day to Day videos, etc.). Also, I'm working on my next mixtape."


One last question, what does swag, mean to you?
"You have style, but you don't need a stylist."
