REVIEW: Asics x RF Gel Lyte 3

Finally got around to wearing and writing up a review for these, so keep reading!

These Asics, are 1/2 of the latest collaboration between Asics and Ronnie Fieg's ECP collection. The pair under review today, is the "Knicks" colorway of the Gel Lyte 3.

Obviously, we can all see where the nickname of "Knicks" comes from for this shoe. The rich blue suede, and the strong hit of orange to accompany it on the upper are a dead giveaway. And being from Queens, a New York related colorway can be assumed to be an easy choice for the shoe. The pig skin perforated toe box, is a common element in his collaborations with Asics, and it's no different for these pair here. With pig skin covering almost the entire upper, what elements are left? How about 3M? And man, is it BRIGHT. When a flash hits the shoe, the tiger stripe Asics logo goes from a cool blue, to a bright sky blue, and even white depending on the brightness! Also, the "eyes" of the shoe (2 squares near the toe) are also 3M hits on the shoe.

Moving down, there is a simple grey midsole, an attempt to tone down the brighter colors of the shoe, in a successful maneuver. The outer appearance of the shoe is finalized with a blue, black, and orange outsole, in continuation with the color scheme of the shoe. Inside, there is a new memory foam insole, pressing the limits of comfort to the next level. This insole is black, with Asics branding in orange.

Inside of the box with each pair of shoes, come a pair of Stance's "super invisible" socks, which read "Just Us", matching the color of the shoes. And finally, you are given 3 styles of laces to choose from in the box as well. The flat blue laces come in the shoes, but inside the box, there are 2 sets of rope laces. One set is black and blue, as pictured, and the second is orange and blue.

In the end, we were given premium materials, and a great pair of shoes! Amazing pick up. Congratulations to those who were able to obtain their pair!
